Anyone in Australia, and possibly the rest of the world, will know of this guy and his vews on the world.
He has made two VERY contriversal statements in the last few weeks, which is starting to raise questions about wether or not he should be deported. Please keep in mind here that he IS the Islamic leader for Australia and New Zealand, and gives thousands of sermon's a year, possibly preaching the same views to young children.
The two qoutes can be found below.
"If you take out uncovered meat and place it outside on the street, or in the the garden or in the park, or in the backyard without a cover, and the cats come and eat it ... whose fault is it, the cats or the uncovered meat," he said.
"The uncovered meat is the problem.
If she was in her room, in her home, in her hijab (Islamic headscarf which covers the hair neck and shoulders), no problem would have occurred."
"Taj Din al-Hilali has praised militant jihadists in Iraq and Afghanistan, calling them men of the highest order for fighting against coalition forces - which include Australian soldiers - to “liberate” their homelands.
In an interview on Arabic radio two weeks ago, the imam based at Sydney’s Lakemba mosque said he was opposed to terror attacks in Madrid, London and New York but strongly endorsed fighters in the Palestinian territories, Iraq and Afghanistan.
In the interview, Sheik Hilali pays tribute to Sayyid Qutb, the ideologue of the Muslim Brotherhood and intellectual mentor of Osama bin Laden and al-Qa’ida.
“Jihad of the liberator of Palestine, that’s the greatest and cleanest and highest ... jihad which lifts our heads in pride in south Lebanon,”
Now, to the point of discussion. Do you believe he should be sacked and / or deported for his comments? Obviously they were FAR over the line, but, he has made a somewhat apologetic appearance on every news broadcaster since, trying to rationalise and excuse his comments. Is this enough to let him stay?
We are trying to stop young islamic' from learning the 'wrong' things which then lead them to strap a bomb to their chests and walk into a crowded city street, and here we have the leader of ALL islamic people in Australia and New Zealand preaching about how the freedom fighters killing our soldiers in Iraq are 'men of the highest order'.
Should we remove the chance of him preaching the same to his followers, and possibly raising another generation of suicide bombers and anti-west islamists? Or sould we protect everyone's rights to a point of view and let him stay in power?
